the author I spent several weeks in Yunnan. This is by far the best area in China for tourists, the almost complete inaccessibility of the area until the last few years have left it almost untouched by foreigners until now. I would like to share my experiences with you.

I carried a shoulder pouch that also contained my passport and visa, small packets of paper napkins. toothpicks, and camera stuff. I could have used some light-weight rubber galoshes if I had had them, and I recommend you carry some, when it rains there are shallow puddles in some places. You may want to include a fold-up umbrella or a slicker in your pouch.

Incidentally, Chinese bath rooms in hotels are in a class with all the other international hotels throughout the world, The toilets in the major tourist areas are well-kept and pleasant.

So what is it like from a personal standpoint in Yunnan?
